A Big Punch in a Small Package.
We've all heard the tale of David vs. Goliath. A tale of strength and bravery against all odds. But have we all heard the tale of Jessica Guck? Jessica is in many ways a hero in her own right. Jessica is a Perham High School junior who has an unusual hobby. Rather than going to the movies or shopping, Jessica spends much of her time ripping apart cars and smashing them up. But there is no need to fear, she isn't smashing them up on the road; she saves that for the demolition derbies. Jessica is very mild mannered, she stands about 5'3", weighs 110 lbs at the most, yet she often runs against 6'2", 250 lb males who are much older than she is. She does this without an ounce of intimidation or fear. She goes out there and gives it her all. And her all gets her pretty far indeed. She won her heat against such competition at the Perham demo. derby. Jessica is an inspiration to all young girls. She is proving that it isn't just a guys' world after all. As her friends like to say "lil' Guck is leavin' a rut and kickin' some butt."

Are these the eyes of a mean person?
Jessica shows that you can be a sweet person and still smash things from time to time.

I think that it is hard for us to understand how much work people put in their demolition cars. It is hard to believe that they fix them up and put a lot of hours in them only to smash them up. Is it worth it? Jess would definately say so. She searchs the area far and wide for the perfect car at, hopefully, the perfect price. Then comes the fun part, revamping the car to meet regulation standards and making it a smashing machine.
Jessica works along side her boyfriend Jeremiah, who is also a demolition driver. They put in numerous hours working on their cars together. He helps her and she helps him. There is lot that goes into a car. All of the chrome and windows must be taken out. Gas tanks must be removed and rerouted and rewelded. The car is repainted to give it that extra personal touch. It's nice to have someone to work with while all this is taking place.

Rings and screwdrivers on hand. Jessica adds that feminine touch to car maintanence.

Jessica stands next to her older brother who also drives demolition cars. She said, "It's in our blood... I've been going to demolition derbies since I was 3."
Dana Bahr and his famous melons. Dana has been growing melons in the area for over 20 years now. dana's wonderful melons, along with other fresh produce, grace the Grass Roots produce stand in Ottertail every day.
Jessica puts a couple of last minute touches on her car to make it perfect before she makes her grand appearance.
Jessica gets ready for her turn to smash by putting on some sparkly lip gloss.

Jessica stands amongst the crowd that she is going to run against. Notice the fact that she is the only female and that she is quite a bit smaller than her competitors.
