PHS coach Dave Cresap is happy with the play of his team…so far. Perham is 5-0, with big wins over Park Rapids (rated 10th), Pelican Rapids (44-43) and Park Christian, for example.

"We’ve got to do better offensively; defensively we’ve been pretty good,” Cresap said following the win against Frazee.

He added: “We’re rebounding pretty well…but we’ve got to improve if we want to go anywhere.” This is Cresap’s eighth year guiding the boys’ basketball fortunes.

The Yellowjackets have a big game Friday at Minnewaska. Originally, the contest was to be part of a four-team tourney, but Waska couldn’t get a fourth squad pinned down for the annual event. Thus Perham will play Alexandria January 25 in Perham. The Cardinals and Minnewaska will also play at a later date.

The Yellowjackets have been scoring about 50 points per game, giving up 43 on average.
